Maxim Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Hey! I want to make one if the Tom Rebenclau's effects. And I need the color star comps, that will burn with same speed. I need red, green, yellow and blue copms. The stars made with these copms must burn with the same speed. Can anyone help me with that?
PIL Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 (edited) The burn rate of comp isn't a constant. That means you have to tune the star comp.Fine magnalium makes your comp fast-burning ,while coarse particles slow down the comp. Cu2(OH)2CO3 blue burns slower than CuO blue.Red ,green and yellow are pretty forgiving. So you can make some minor adjustment to compensate for different burn rates. For example, more magnalium and less organic fuel speed up the comp.Star gun test can tell you how fast the star will burn after shell break. Mumbles Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 This is a place where something like the Veline system might be useful. Not the absolute best colors, but they are all designed to burn at around the same rate and intensity.
Arthur Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Particle size will help a lot, -finer is faster.Try to start with a batch of fuel big enough to make all the stars so that they all start with the same powder size and size range, -gives you a starting point.
Peret Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Tom Rebenklau, being the utter perfectionist he is, will have tested his star compositions with a stopwatch and worked out how big to make each color. Bigger stars burn longer.
