50AE Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Hello guys, I am wondering if it's possible to replace Zr with Ti with the fundamental question in mind, how much different arethe two metals in terms of reactivity in pyrotechnic mixtures. This question has to do with Zirconium paintballs used in the movie industry. They are filled with a Zr, KClO3 and quartz sand mixture that ignites on the ball's impact. However, zirconium gets more expensive and hard to get. I'm willing to substitute it with fine Ti, however I think I may need a further sensitizer. Sb2S3 gets in my mind. What are your opinions? Regards,Alexander. Edited October 21, 2015 by 50AE
