SkyLighter pyro supply company is up for sale.

The owner wants to retire and is ready to sell the company.

Where the heck did you find this out? I checked out the site and couldn't find anything about it..

Ned announced it on Fireworking.com. There has been quite a colorful discussion over there....

Interesting.. Never saw that comming. Guess it's time to finally re-sub.

That might explain the recent blast of sales.

Figures... about the time I start, the vendors quit.

Well, that ends my daily dose of "pyro porn".

Around the same time as I joined this forum I subscribed to Skylighters newsletters. Simply so I could drool over all the chemicals for sale, knowing full well that they weren't available here. Sort of like browsing through one of those tech stores looking at all the wonderful gadgets and gear you can't have.

On occasions I like to browse the website - but of course, that's only to read the articles :)

This does make me wonder if all the articles that have helped so many get started will remain available, for free, to everyone...

To be fair, skylighter has been officially "for sale" for years, and I doubt it will just close, without a buyer.

Skylighter was going long before Harry took it over. The Kosankes used to own it. The article database is such a valuable resource, I'm sure it will live on. I hope so anyway.

Just received an email verifying the site is for sale. I hope someone takes the reins so I don't lose my best source.

One can't help but wonder if the owner was facing increasing pressure from government agencies due to the variety of chemicals sold. It would seem unlikely that one would invest a good deal to purchase a business such as this not knowing if they could be shut down tomorrow or face drastic restrictions on what could be sold.

Probably the wrong spot to post but since pyrochemsource was mentioned, has anyone else received a security warning (bad SSL) while ordering from them lately?

Of course there is MEEEE for tooling.

but i think a lot of folks were getting tubes and supplies from skylighter.

Caleb

You got the spelling wrong, one too many E's and your missing the ik.

Love your tools Caleb, you have been coming up with some really nice stuff!

Have not had much spare time to work on my metal lathe lately, been working on a

bunch of beer tap handles for a beer company and some case formers for the Pyro's.

Skylighter has moved to Morro Bay CA, and now ships from the west coast--a real boon to many of us. The How-To articles remain, as do the daily sale offers. I'm now getting next day shipping, though many key reagents are out of stock at the moment.
