MadMat Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I was wondering How my BP stacks up as a lift charge. I have a 2" gun with a 156 gram dummy shell. A 10 gram charge of my BP will send this dummy shell up a hair over 200'. I know this height is accurate since I have a 197' water tower (according to the water utility co.) nearby that I can judge the height of the shell. Would this be considered decent performance?

MadMat Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 I was just wondering, since, as of yet, I haven't had the chance to see first hand what other people's BP can do for a comparison.
braddsn Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 That is excellent performance. I use between 10 and 12% of shell weight to reach desired altitude. For example, for a 3" ball shell that weighs 140 grams, I would use 14 grams of lift, maybe 15 to be sure. That will get me to 250 - 300 ft
MadMat Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) My 2" can shells are usually in the neighborhood of 50-65 grams. So, I should use approx. 5-7 grams of lift charge for them? Just wondering, last night I had a time fuse fail to ignite. This morning I found the shell and the spiking was torn to hell on the bottom of the shell (I didn't paste over the spiking, maybe I should have). Maybe I'm going a little overboard on the lift charge? Edited October 2, 2015 by MadMat
FloridaCracker Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 What's the water company going to think when they have a 2" hole punched into the bottom of their tank? Since I will probably get a serious response, I'm joking. 1
