Which Charcoal for Titanium Streamers?

Recommended Posts

I thought I would have a go at Ken Kosanke's Titanium Streamer:

64 Potassium Nitrate

13 Charcoal (AF)

9 Sulfur

9 Ti (Sponge 40-60 mesh)

5 Dextrin

My question is, should I use a reactive charcoal like paulownia, or a more "sparky" type - like I would use for TT?

Also I've read that Ti comps shouldn't be rammed, but pressed. I was surprised that Ti could "spark" as in a collision sense. For some reason I had it in the back of my mind and assumed that Ti was similar to Al, in that it was non- ferrous. I checked it with a magnet and realised the truth!

spherical Ti is ok, a sponge structure tends to collapse with a crunching sound :) . As its a streamer i`d say you dont want the charcoal to be too reactive.

Air float. Have you tried Blessers Blonde Streamer?

Thanks Col, what do you mean "collapse with a crunching sound"?

Cheers dyno, unfortunately I don't have any FeTi.

If you press anything with a fair percentage of Ti sponge you can hear it crunch sometimes. I only use sponge with BP, spherical with whistle.
