Sparx88 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I'm looking for a yellow flash comp using sodium nitrate and aluminum. I'm not to worried about how loud it is I want Avery solid and distinctive yellow.
schroedinger Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 My first try would be NaNO3:Mg (-200 mesh) 1:1.Else you can look into persulphates.

Arthur Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Sometimes sodium oxalate is added to a normal 70/30 flash as say 70/30 +30. The oxalate doesn't take up moisture like sodium nitrate can.
Maxim Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Hey, NaNO3 doesnt soak up water almost, try NaNO3 50% Al powder 50%, or NaNO3 70% Al powder 30%. If you some less brightness, use NaNO3 50% Sulpfur 30% Al powder 20%, its also good for burst charges.

If only that were true. It's not always terrible, but it depends on your location. It absorbs water above around 70% relative humidity at 20C/68F. This makes it basically unusable during much of the building season where I live, without taking special precautions..
