MadMat Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) I shot off my very first canister shell tonight. A 3" glitter, sorry no video, but it wouldn't have been that impressive anyways. Everything worked perfectly, except the timer fuse. The shell woulda looked great but it went off about 20' from the ground on the way back down. Thought I had the timer fuse down pat, but it burned too long. Time to trouble shoot for the reason. Wanted to take video but the batteries went dead at just the wrong time I have worked out the timing problem and will try a couple more shells tonight. This time I hope to get video "to show off" my creations. Some thoughts I have after thinking about my first shell: Though it was close to the ground the pattern of the stars looked symmetrical, so my pasting and spiking seem good, the burst charge had a nice pop to it, so that seems good. The only problem (besides the timer) was that I think I only achieved around 80% ignition of the stars. Maybe my priming needs improvement. I have been misting my stars (glitter with dextrin binder) with 80/20 water/alcohol and rolling them in mill dust. The coating seems solid and well adhered. Any suggestions for improving the priming?
