BillyBobBodean Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 How much confinement is needed for TPA flash to work? I made the suggested 71/17/12 (Perch/Al/TPA) and filled a couple 1/4 inch ID x 2 inch tubes. I glued both ends with 1/4 inch pieces of dowel. It was fused with viscoe in the center of the tube. When I lit it, once the fuse burned I just got a jet of fire from the fuse hole, no pop at all. I know my Perch and aluminum are good, it makes a great 70/30 flash, but I am not comfortable making an amount for a 3" bottom shot. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Nessalco Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 If it jetted, the comp was settled too tight in the tube. One reason I granulate. Kevin 1
BillyBobBodean Posted September 6, 2015 Author Posted September 6, 2015 I did try again in a 1" plastic shell. I added a little sawdust and did get a pop. I would like to granulate but no sports/gun shop within 50 miles has any double-base smokeless shot powder in stock for making NC Lacquer. Is there any other method to granulate?
Nessalco Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 I've only used NC lacquer. Double base powder is not required - single base works just fine. You can also buy NC wool from Firefox and make lacquer, or buy it from Harry already made up. Kevin
