Merlin Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Can anyone suggest a book on pattern shell construction? I am talking about 4 and 5 inchers. I know how to make basic shells- but I hear saturn, chrysanthemum, peony. ring and various other types of pattern shells. I would like to do some study. Thanks
mikeee Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Here is a link to some basic information and a tutorial. http://www.skylighter.com/fireworks/how-to-make/star-pattern-shell.asp
Mumbles Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 To be honest, Passfire.com is probably one of the best references for pattern shells. I'll have to think about some other literature. I don't off hand recall which ones have what.
dusty56 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 There is some good info in FAST. Shimuzu. Also David Blessers book on round stars and shells has some good stuff.
dusty56 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I misspelled Dr. Shimizu and Mr. Bleser last night. My bad. I checked both of these books this morning and there is a ton of info. Although "Fireworks, the Art, Science and Techniques" is old, I think it is a must have. Dr. Shimizu covers almost anything you can think of. My only dislike of Mr. Bleser's book is his use of plastic shells and buckshot for rolling stars.
