ShannonM Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 I've seen term hot fuel use a lot what does it mean what are some examples of hot fuel comps
pyrokid Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 "Hot" generally means that the fuel is more powerful or burns faster.
calebkessinger Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 I would consider a "hot" bp something that is above average in burn speed. For example. Hardwood charcoal makes servicable bp but not what one would call hot
ShannonM Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 So hot bp would be a high quality bp.and soft woods make higher quality Bp or do the quality of the sulfer and kno3 change the quality and can the percentage of each Chem alter ot?
schroedinger Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Yes charcoal from e.g. willow, alder, balsa, eastern red cedar or paulownia make much better charcoal then the common airfloat. Sulfur and kno3 should make no difference since the used stuff is a common technical grade product of constant quality.
calebkessinger Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Yes most "traditional" rocket fuel is toned down by using less oxidizer and more charcoal in the mix.
