insutama Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Would vacuum sealing chemicals be a good way to store them for long term storage ?
schroedinger Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Yes, it is since you will save quite some space, but apart from that most chemicals are inert. If it is to prevent chemicals from becomming bad, i would only do it with hygroscopic chemicals, iron and mg powder.
Mia Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Ah now I know why the titanic sunk it just sucked up water
insutama Posted August 7, 2015 Author Posted August 7, 2015 So its a bit overkill then for most chemicals ? i was just thinking for my oxidizer i have more than i will using in a year so i wanna make sure it doesn't go bad
OblivionFall Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 So its a bit overkill then for most chemicals ? i was just thinking for my oxidizer i have more than i will using in a year so i wanna make sure it doesn't go badPut it in a plastic bag that zips up. Put a silica gel pack in with it and zip it up almost all of the way. Push out all of the air then zip it fully. Then put that into a sealed jar or one of those kitchen containers with the lids. This will insure that your chems will stay good for a very long time.
schroedinger Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 You do not have to worry about that. At industrial storage, they are just laying the bags straight onto the ground or have big silos, no other precautions.
