pyralex Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 are there any other alternatives to Bentonite clay Nozzles? Bentonite is not cutting it for me, and it cant withstand the pressure for some reason. any advice will be appreciated.
Maserface Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 How are you building your rocket? Give us some damn details.
stix Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Yeah, I agree with Maser - some details would certainly help. Nevertheless, looking at this post: http://www.amateurpyro.com/forums/topic/10995-powerful-nozzles/your experience and skills are likely beyond most people and the scope of this forum. I'd suggest that you hook up with your local amateur rocketry association or similar, and they would be able to give you some good advice as to why your "Bentonite is not cutting it for you" , and why "it can't withstand the pressure for some reason". That reason, I would imagine will become apparent rather quickly. One method for making high performance nozzles is to lathe a solid piece of graphite. There's a lot of useful info on this site: http://www.nakka-rocketry.net/nozmach.html if you are prepared to read it. Cheers.
schroedinger Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 While graphite nozzles are really good for high power rockets, they don't really help in pyro.First they are way to expensive and how ro you wanna fix them into a paper tube? @pyralex do you use straight bentonite and which grade (the normal yellow green fireclay or highly refined white stuff for koi ponds)? Which size are your rockets and hiw much pressure do you use?
