wizard7611 Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Why are Chinese made shells so rough when Japanese shells are wrapped smoothly? What are the techniques into doing this?
gregh Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Because the Chinese produce 100 for every 1 the Japanese make. Quantity over quality!
nater Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 I read somewhere that the Japanese hand paste and burnish the outside layer to achieve the best appearance. The Chinese shells I am most familiar with are machine taped with the poles exposed and filled with glue. 1
Sparx88 Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Yes, hand pasted kraft and smoothed with a peice of 2x4 and a spritz is a purty thing.
Mumbles Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Machine tape or expediently hand pasted shells don't always look pretty There's nothing stopping you from hand pasting a final layer however for asthetics. I do this all the time. All my ball shells have an odd number of layers for a reason.
