So. I have a 12 ton hydraulic press from Princess Auto. It far exceeds anything I'll ever need for black powder pucks or whistle rockets.

I've lost my links from my old desktop. Can you provide me with some of the older links on pressing black powder pucks, and pressing whistle rockets? It feels like yesterday, but it really wasn't.

Relevant links and questions are both welcome. I want to get back into doing this kind of stuff. Black powder more specifically, because while I love whistle powder, I'm exceedingly cautious around it.

I would just recommend reading all the threads in the rocket subforum. It actually doesn't take that long... That's what I did. Of course, at the time, I couldn't get enough... And remember thinking I wish there were more threads to read.

Then you can come back and ask specific questions. This post is too vague for anyone to help you, other than doing your homework for you.

Trust me, the extra effort will be worth it in the end. There are no shortcuts in pyro.

There are no shortcuts in pyro.

There are a million shortcuts to the hospital, and a few thousand to the cemetary :D

I don't know you by that name. Did you use another name on the old APC?

Sorry to be rude, and I understand your point, but your post wasn't helpful. YES, I need to find those old threads again, and yes, that's up to me, I suppose. I was wondering if anyone had those links bookmarked already.

I've been lurking for perhaps 7+ years. More lurking isn't the answer. Participation is. As I said, I had the relevant links and lost them. I'll go looking on my own, which is the way I solve all problems. "If you want to accomplish anything, do it yourself."

Please don't try snarking at me, any of you. I'll go toe to toe with the cleverest of you.

You sure about that?

Female.

No. I'm not being sexistic. I'm just pointing out that your profile is set to "not telling" on gender, where as you posted it straight out in the introduction.

Me, on the other hand, is also set to "not telling" but i view that as more of a joke...

Anyway, Welcome back. If you were active on the old forum, you've been here longer then i have, so i do intend to keep an eye on you. And you seam spunky. I've come to like this forum, for the attitude of the members, you'll fit right in.

B!

I Googled "pressing black powder pucks" and "pressing whistle rockets". Both responses surprised the heck out me. Man that Google dude is something! Lots of "Relevant links". Anyone that's been around pyro more than 7 years knows about the magic spoon treatment. Geeze!

We are fine with male or female here, nobody is going to be sexist to you. But unlike real life, you're not going to get treated better online if you say you're a girl rather than if you don't. I can give you reasons if you want.

But anyways yeah I get that you know what you're doing but you just want to make sure you've got the right information. Try searching up hydraulic press, look at Ned Gorski's articles and look at "Black Powder Rocket Press." Then later come back with a more specific question. But I personally think you should start small with BP and work your way up again.

This is a Carver Press I use for several applications, these can be found used/surplus if you look for them. They have a built in gauge and you can get longer main rods depending on the intended use.

You could also mount a cylinder on a top plate if you want a powered unit. These presses also break down easily if you need to transport them.
