i have no chlorate nor perchlorate, so i try to make a new blue with pvc powder cuo. i mix pvc and cuo togather and pasting it on a paper with nc lacquer (wood clear lacquer). dry and test open air have a nice blue, you can test it.

Am I right in thinking this mix doesn't have any proper oxidiser? I can't see this being able to make a blue star.

More details, ratio for the chems, video, photos, burn speed, test in shells, and then we'll see.

You can make NC based stars. It in essence acts as it's own fuel and oxidizer. You just need to provide a colorant. You need clean NC (aka no smokeless) for this to work. This was being explored as an alternative to AP stars for use in indoor and proximate pyro. I'm not sure if it ever caught on or became economically viable.

So you can't use single base smokeless powder for this (like H50BMG)?

Try it if you want. Blue is going to be the most sensitive to contaminants.

I never thought of this.. Very interesting, thank you.
I will try this method on some of the Veline-compositions, because I'm also out of perch.
