I came across a free pound of potassium sulphate is there any use in this hobby for this chemical or is it just wasting valuable space.

Some sulphates are used as oxidisers with some reactive metals. There is a flare compound that burns underwater -it uses magnesium and calcium sulphate (plaster!).

Ya I had a feeling you could make a flash with it but not intrested in that was wondering if it was used in any star comps

The one formula that I found was for a flare lasting several minutes, hardly a flash! I think the sulphate oxidiser is suited to magnesium where nitrates may not be suited.
