insutama Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I came across a free pound of potassium sulphate is there any use in this hobby for this chemical or is it just wasting valuable space.
Rocketier Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) I have got that stuf but never used it. I came across a site which has some infor on epsonsalts. link and an article on this forum Edited June 20, 2015 by Rocketier
Arthur Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Some sulphates are used as oxidisers with some reactive metals. There is a flare compound that burns underwater -it uses magnesium and calcium sulphate (plaster!).
insutama Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 Ya I had a feeling you could make a flash with it but not intrested in that was wondering if it was used in any star comps
Arthur Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 The one formula that I found was for a flare lasting several minutes, hardly a flash! I think the sulphate oxidiser is suited to magnesium where nitrates may not be suited.
