TheSidewinder Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Assuming I can afford to travel there (they're talking another summer of obscene gas prices), I'll bring my video camera to the WPAG shoots and try to capture some. It appeared that your mom enjoyed herself at the shoot last year. I suspect she'd be happy to come along. M
Mumbles Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Sounds like you probably wont be making the Sept shoot. I have a feeling it will be a small turn out. The tentative plan is to visit Spectrum Pyrotechnics which is down in my vicinity, and there are no rockets allowed. I have a feeling that the distance, and regulations may keep some away. As far as a digital camera. Yes, I do have one, however it is quite old. It was a hand-me-down so my dad could justify getting a very nice camera. It is old enough that it does not have a video option. The pictures suck bad enough as is, I'd hate to see video. Some girl left her camera at our house last year, I'll see if we still have it, and see about annexing it perhaps. Might just put an extra long fuse on it so I can get back in time to video.
FrankRizzo Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Kinda getting OT here, but you can get a really good deal on a 12-Relay receiver board and 2000m remote right now from the Chinese guy who sells on eBay. Then you don't even have to light a fuse manually. PM me if you want the details.
TheSidewinder Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Hey, I'll bring mine and he can borrow it. M
Mumbles Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 I have several months to figure something out. In the mean time, it is time to wash all the charcoal and nitrate out of my hair, and fix the hernia it feels like I got from all that pressing. If I keep up all this pressing, my right arm will be back in high school pitching shape in no time. I got 1000g of 39J, 500g of 6a, and 1000g of D1 pressed today. I've been pressing around 35 1", and 35 3/4" crossettes each, and a few rising comets out of each batch. Thats a 3" and 4" shell each from each 1000g batch, and just a 4" shell from the 6a. I have a few rising tails from the extra comp as well.
Karlos Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Hello. What is good material for separating pumps - composition for good comet - pushing out from pump?
firetech Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I think you're asking 3 separate questions here... but if you are making a comet/crossette pump, and you don't have a lathe, some sort of plastic would be in store for you. If you do have a lathe then aluminum, brass, or any other non-sparking metal would do just fine.
Karlos Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Not, I am not asking about material for pump(brass, aluminum). I need know, what is good for greasing pump before filling. I seen video, where chinese manufacturer applied to pump any material by a clout, and dipped former to unknown liquid.

Mumbles Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 If you have a good quality pump you really don't have to dip it in anything. I'm not convinced there was anything on that cloth, but there could be. Theres no reason to grease the pump or sides of the rammer. The face of the rammer is the only place anything sticks. I've used cooking spray, cooking oil, and spray silicone oil. They all work well. With the sprays, you could just spray in the end with the rammer recessed, and grease the face and the sides of the pump all at once. Also an old toothbrush helps to clean off comp around the pin, and get oil in all the crevices.
optimus Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I never had sticking issues with my 3/4" crossettes. The pump is a Wolter though... Don't the rocket guys use graphite powder for this kind of stuff?
