Tested a 3" with 3g slowflash, with 2 different sets of stars. One set was primed with -50mesh granulated bp, second set primed with bp + 5% woodmeal. Woodmeal won this test, although it seems to leave alot of glowing shit in the air.

My first canister, I decided to make a multibreak. Its not of great quality but was indeed a fun project, and a cool shell to watch! I recommend making one, regardless your skill level. Lots of fun and experience.

The cylinder looked pretty good. I don't mean to nit pick, but it's not a multibreak though.

Maybe try diatomaceous earth instead of saw dust/wood meal. It should help give a rough texture as well as make molten droplets of silica that will hold heat and burn into the star to get it going.

Similar to silicon in prime and it shouldn't leave glowing embers like the wood. Plus it's cheap for a lifetime supply of pool filter material which is the called for type. Available at hardware and pool stores.

Just a thought.

Exactly! I was sitting there after the inserts popped, waiting for the boom ;)

Enanthate those were impressive! I am partial to the Turquoise +Ti.. hehe..I am glad you made one! :) I love it! Also for your first cylinder, that was a hell of a shell if you ask me. I have nailed down my ignition issues finally, and I am not exactly sure which part solved it, because I overhauled my whole process. I am using first a layer of monocapa, then lastly a thin layer of fast bp+bp granules+wood meal. I have also noticed something strange.... when I add the final layer of bp to give the texture.... IF I add it when the stars are in the star roller, the stars still come out very smooth and non-textured. But, if I dump the stars into a big tub, and sprinkle the bp on them and shake/roll them around, they maintain a rough texture. Just a little info for what it's worth. Also, if you ever encounter a comp that is tough to light, I can almost guarantee that monocapa will light it. This stuff is pretty impressive so far. I am also slowly dialing up my boost. Seems like it takes forever to get everything dialed in huh?! Cheers!

Cheers guys!

FlaM, the only thing I can get a hold of is pool filter sand, but this seems to be something else?

Will experiment with other particles though, thanks for the tip.

Thanks Wiley. Yes they are spiked, and apparently my spiking is very poor. Although my fingers are cut wide open from that twine.. Will work on that next time!

Brad, the woodmeal did the trick for me. Fine BP-granules also worked very well, but woodmeal performed better in the test. More tests needs to be done to make an accurate conclusion though.

The reason why you end up with smooth stars im guessing is the moisture in your roller and/or stars. Those tiny granules dissolve very quickly when in contact with water!

FYI, Im still working on the red strobe formula, and im very close. Will post formula this weekend.

Next project is pumped glitters. Im also tempted to play with matrix strobes, to see what that would look like.
