Blaster5337 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Just out of curiosity how many people here, playing with fireworks and the like, actually have a legitimate Chemistry back ground or have taken more than just the minimum Chemistry Classes? Trying to figure out if I need more Chemistry Classes?!
Arthur Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Several people on here have a chemistry background, but the pure chemical theory will only assist your pyro hobby NOT make it, you have to do that practically. I have a degree and some years in the industry. BUT remember that pyro was invented before they thought of calling it chemistry. 3
Mumbles Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I'm making chemistry a career. It gives me a head start in some areas. Pyro is a mix of science and art. You begin to understand some of the reactions a little more and can make educated guesses on some formulas and replacements. Its definitely not going to make you make better shells though. That's all on the artistry side of thing. I'm in inorganic chemistry, which is probably the most closely associated field of chemistry with pyro, but even still it's only occasionally useful. You at least get a better comprehension of real and imagined chemical risks. 2
