Mumbles
And it will look exactly like zumuro's? Unbelievable, I'll try it. That might be getting a little ahead of yourself. In theory it will, but it depends more on the operator than the pattern for how good it will look. It took me a little while to get it right. Now I can practically do it in my sleep. The pattern remains the same for all sizes, just there are more "hours". Offset the first one by one mark, and then go every-other mark. The offset ensures you fill in the ones you skipped on the second time around.

Bayarea510
So me and 2 buddys are getting ready for a shoot this weekend and this is the "before" pics. Should have the shells taped up on tuesday so should have those photos up soon. There is over 22lbs of D-1 Glitter and 15lbs of KP red. Some of the red will be used as color changing cores for later but most will be built for this weekend. The 1" D-1 stars are going into a 10"er for this weekend while most the 3/4" stars will find their way into 6's and maybe 8's.... Hope to get some video of the shoot if so Ill post it also. Mumbles
I believe you're thinking a bit too small. I'd say 5x6", 3x8", and a 12". I can't tell if the smallest ones are 4" or 5".

GraafVaag
Aight, the comet in the corner of the screen is a 1" off course, making the shells 4" or so. You're right.

Bayarea510
heres the break down, 1 10", 3 8", 5 6" and 7 4" plus another 3 plastic 4" shells along with 3 3" plastic cans and a few rockets lol We were just a little busy working our butts off last weekend I had wanted to get my 12"er done but I dont have a gun for that size so had to do the 10" instead. The main reason behind this "test" build is to try our hands at paper shells instead of plastic. We are trying to see if one of our buddys has a cam we can use to this weekends shoot so we can get video, lets hope we find something. TyrantBB
Finished a couple of 3" and 4" paper hemispheres... Don't know if its anything special, but I'm pretty sure most people don't make their own shell hemispheres.http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd111/tyrant_bb/FILE0057.jpghttp://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd111/tyrant_bb/FILE0058.jpgNot perfect, doesn't look too good on the outside but once it's pasted it looks fine. Besides, I think it gets a pretty nice break...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoDUR0PPo1w
Richtee
Besides, I think it gets a pretty nice break... No complaints here... other than a LEETLE quick on the time fuse. Well done!
TyrantBB
Thanks, it was quick because I was using a spolette and I didn't really bother to test the time it took to burn before...but I got some time fuse coming for Christmas
Karlos
Hello. I must ask you..... What do you thing about this?: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_jQeT-d9FU Is it crackling comet with ( only crack)-composition in comet or any composition with crackling micro-grains? Is possible using crackling to produce small comets or rolled stars etc. 5 - 10mm? Karlos.

It will be very difficult to make 5-10mm matrix comets. 15mm upwards would be better.

Pretty green flame
What about Fuchs's Pop Glitter, the effect is pretty similar in my opinion, maybe a bit louder but I have no experience with it so don't take my word for it.
GraafVaag
Could very well be pop glitter. The starmine I fired one week ago looked pretty the same.
Karlos
Pop glitter is not so loud, and is more washy. When is binding with NC looks good, but I have problem with secundar reaction. I dont know what cause this problem: http://img26.picoodle.com/img/img26/3/11/2...lim_ab7c7ea.jpg. When is used dextrine and 50% ethanol, stars are OK after week, not with NC....... http://n-joy.cz/#/video/rain-willov/xrqjvuvpe94nyc5j/http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=BhDPUEqbhR4 http://pl.youtube.com/watch?v=3LQYGbnfMho !!!! psyco_1322
I believe that the Chinese have perfected the use of a "pop glitter" like formula for use in place of dragon eggs long before we heard of it. Our formula was probably a result of an accident, they on the other hand most likely turned in their formula form others like it. If you look at magnalium based comps, they tend to crackle by themselves anyways. A little tweaking and your getting a louder and louder crackle noise, until your get to a dragon egg type of comp. I seen a test video from Dan Creagan were he had tweaked the pop glitter formula a bit to get more of the pop out of it. Amazing, looked and sounded like a pile of dragon eggs. It seems to comp down to the amount of sulfur you use in it, the more you have, the more it crackles. Just like spritzels in glitter comps. On the other hand, I had once made some dragon egg matrix comets. I basically robbed some nice dragon eggs from Chinese product, mixed them in to some crappy bp, wet with NC at the time since I wasn't sure if there would be a water reaction, and pumped into stars. They performed very oddley, instead of leaving a crackling tail, they burnt like a normal charcoal star until apogee - when they burnt out, then the dragon eggs would all just go off right in a little cloud were the star burnt out. I used them several times in roman candles and have since abandoned the idea in the effort to go completely hand made.
