mercyfulfate
Hey guys, is it fine to mill oxides in composition?More specifically, the iron oxide in Winokur 20. I know to exclude metals from a ball mill but does this include oxides also? Thanks!

mercyfulfate
Okay thanks. I shall screen the composition instead
Mumbles
Safety aside, most glitter compositions benefit from NOT being milled. The slightly inhomogeneous mixture enhances the effect. Milling the composition, or portions there of, can actually harm the effect. If things burn too well, the tail and effect is shortened dramatically. For this reason alone I wouldn't mill it. I'd also have some concerns about even traces of residual iron metal in the product.
mercyfulfate
Mumbles that makes sense. There's a lot of contradictory information on other pyro sites.I've made the glitter using mallee charcoal as its slower burning than my willow. Hope I didn't wet them too much before I cut them!
